Mary Louise Simpson was born on September 10, 1946 to the late Earl N. James, Sr. and Essie S. (Snipes) James in Florence, South Carolina.
The oldest of four children, Mary matriculated through the New York City public school system. She went on to have a successful career as a supervisor with Nynex (Verizon) before returning home to South Carolina after retiring in 1995.
Upon her return to South Carolina, Mary discovered a new passion for teaching. Mary began teaching English and Christian studies at Morningstar Christian Academy. She taught sixth through twelfth grade students for eight years and left an indelible impression on the staff, students, and their families.
Mary enjoyed spending time with loved ones, gardening, and playing online games. She was a warm and caring individual who could always be counted on for a good laugh, with her quick wit and memorable one-liners.
On Sunday, December 8, 2019, Mary was called home where she is now reunited with her parents, her brother Earl N. James, Jr., and her sister, Cathy A. Beard.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother Eric C. James, Sr., aunt Josephine West, sister-in-law Angela C. James, nieces, nephews, her beloved pup Cocoa Ann, and a host of cousins, loved ones, and friends.
Funeral Service is Saturday at 11 am. The services will be grave side at Devotion Gardens.
