Helen (Williams) Lee

August 7, 1926 ~ June 11, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Ms. Helen Williams Lee, 92, was born on August 7, 1926.  She was the daughter and step-daughter of the late Minnie and Robert Williams departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Mullins Nursing Center, Mullins, South Carolina.

Helen attended the public school of Marion County Training School, Marion, South Carolina. At an early age Helen heeded to the call of Christ and became and was converted and served as a faithful member of St. John AME Church.  Evidence of her great love for God and her church was seen and felt as she actively took part in the various ministries of the church; serving on the usher board, Mattie Davis Junior Choir, McClary Voices and the Senior Chancellor Choir. She had a great love for singing and had a voice of an angel.  She was well known as a soloist and used her musical talent singing at many funerals and special programs throughout the area.

Later, in life she joined the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she continued using her musical talent as a member of the Mass choir, serving on the Trustee Ministry, Missionary Ministry, and Hospitality Ministry.  She was also a member of the Lily of the Valley Chapter #264 of Marion, South Carolina.

Helen was a medical assistant to Dr. Cheezem and worked in the Operating Room at Marion Memorial Hospital for many years.  After retiring,  she was a substitute teacher  at the different schools within the county with children.  She also loved traveling, singing and shopping and loved dressing eloquent; she wore beautiful hats, clothes and jewelry.

Helen sustained a great loss with the death of her husband, General Lee and her son: Carroll Lee; two brothers: Robert Williams and Joseph Williams and a sister: Louise.

 

She leaves to cherish her loving memories ~ one sister: Ruth Lester of Marion, SC and a host of many nieces, nephews that she loved, cousins, other relatives and friends.
