“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” ~Proverbs 3:5-6
Mr. LeTraon Ernest Davis, 42, of Chesterton, Indiana exchanged time for eternity on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Franciscan Saint Anthony Hospital in Michigan City, Indiana with his loving wife, Macella Scott-Davis by his side. LeTraon was born on March 16, 1977, in Marion, South Carolina to Ernest and Diane Davis.
At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of the Door of Hope Christian Church in Marion, South Carolina.
Affectionately known as “Traon”, he graduated from Marion High School in 1995. He was an active member of Marion Swamp Fox Marching Band where he played as a Saxophonist. After high school, Traon and his twin brother Leshaon Davis (Retired Air Force) journeyed to Claflin University. Later, Traon enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, but was injured during Basic Training. He then ventured onto South Carolina Police Academy where he completed his course work and joined Marion City Police Department in Marion, South Carolina. He continued his Law Enforcement career and joined the Andrews City Police Department in Andrews, South Carolina. Traon switched gears and developed a love for welding and worked with Force Protection in Ladson, South Carolina. Finally, he was employed with ArcelorMittal in Georgetown, South Carolina and later transferred to the Burns Harbor division in Burns Harbor, Indiana.
Traon was full of love, life, and laughter. He never met a stranger and always looked for ways to help. He would engage anyone he met in an extensive conversation on various topics. He thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with his wife and children. Traon would plan weekend getaways and special family trips. Traon was also an active parent by coaching and supporting his children in basketball, football and track. If he was not coaching on the field, then he was cheering his children on from the stands. This level of support was not only extended to his children, but to all children he came in contact with be it recreational or school sports. The Administration Team of Chesterton High School saw Traon’s passion and called on him, as a volunteer, to assist the staff in helping students engage in conversations related to Race, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
Traon enjoyed fishing, cooking pork rinds, and riding his Scarlet Red 96 Cubic Inch Dyna Super Glide Custom - Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He became a member of 219 Riderz of Gary, Indiana. As a member of the club, he was appointed to serve as the Business Manager. His quest to enrich the strong ties within the bounds of the Black and Gold were unwavering. He truly loved the families that compose 219 Riderz! He was also a member of Groove-Phi-Groove Social Fellowship Incorporated.
On May 19, 2001, Traon was joined in Holy Matrimony to Macella Scott-Davis and this union was enriched with a son, De’Shaon Davis and later blessed with three more children, Lauren Ashley, Madison Amaya, and Joshua LeTraon Davis.
Loved ones who will cherish his memories forever are: a loving and devoted wife, Macella Scott-Davis of the home; four children, De’Shaon Davis of Charleston, SC, Lauren, Madison, and Joshua Davis of the home; parents, Ernest and Diane Davis of Marion, SC; twin brother, Leshaon (Sherri) Davis of Derby, Kansas; one uncle, James (Demet) White of Winston-Salem, NC; three aunts, Gloria White of Bucksport, SC, Rosena (Briscoe) Davis and Lois (Harris) Davis all of Marion, SC; father and mother-in-law, Maceo and Daisy Scott, Sr., one brother-in-law, Maceo E.
